Amber Alert Issued for 3 day old Texas girl

The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Lubbock Police Department has issued an Amber Alert for a 3-day-old girl abducted from Covenant Lakeside Hospital in Lubbock, on Saturday, March 10, at 1:20 a.m. Click for map of Lubbock, Texas.

Mychael Darthard, is a black female, is 19 inches long and weighs 10 pounds. She is possibly jaundiced.

Mychael is believed to have been abducted by a black female in her early 20s who is 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds with a medium build and light complexion. She has black hair and dark eyes. The woman was wearing a flower-print scrub shirt, light blue scrub pants and a gray puffy jacket. Her hair was pulled together with a scrunchy. The woman acted like she was a hospital employee.

There may be a black male associated with the suspect vehicle, a 2000-2006 red Dodge pickup truck with black trim and tinted windows.

30 Hour Famine and More

This years 30 Hour Famine was the hardest for me. I had a headache from Thursday night at the volleyball game until I ate at 6 PM on Friday in spite of the fact I took Ibuprofen. I think it was the hardest because I was at work for part of the 30 Hour Famine. I enjoyed my meal last night very much to break the fast. Here is a fact that I learned last night at the 30 Hour Famine. Americans spend more than 61 BILLION (that is BILLION with a B not million) on soft drinks every year. I also learned about the LRA Lord's Resistance Army. Here is what Wikipedia says about the LRA. The Lord's Resistance Army (LRA),[1] formed in 1987, is a terrorist paramilitary group operating mainly in northern Uganda and parts of Sudan. The group is engaged in an armed rebellion against the Ugandan government in what is now one of Africa's longest-running conflicts. It is led by Joseph Kony, who proclaims himself a spirit medium, and apparently wishes to establish a state based on his unique interpretation of the Acholi religious syncretism and Premillennialism. The LRA is accused of widespread human rights violations, including mutilation, torture, rape, the abduction of civilians, the use of child soldiers and a number of massacres.

In volleyball action we won three games (the set) and then lost three games (the set). I think that this was the first set that we have won this season.

Sex or Abstinence or Vaccines

I have had this post rolling around in my head for several months now. It started when the vaccine for the HPV came out. I must now remind you that HPV is a STD (sexual transmitted disease) and you can get it without having sex. Skin to skin contact is all that is needed. When the vaccine came out many schools were talking about mandating that it be given to girls as young as nine. I will add now that Texas has mandated it for girls before entering the sixth grade. Now back to the main point. I said that I don’t think that it should be mandated. I said that if abstinence was promoted more we would not need to be vaccinating people for the HPV. I was then told that I was stupid and naive if I thought that kids were going to abstain from sex. I was also told that we should not put that kind of pressure or expect that out of our kids. This came from church going and I think Christians. I recently walked in on two women talking about the HPV vaccine. The one woman was asking the other if she had told her (14 or 15 year old ) daughter about it. These were church going/Christian women. I wanted to say this is a STD she will not be getting it if she does not have sex or doing something with her clothes off. I kept my mouth shut this time and did not say anything because of the last time of being called stupid. But I don’t think I will be able to keep my mouth shut the next time.

I have never been a big fan of shopping on-line. However over the past two weeks I have bought two things on-line. I bought a box of checkes. It was a simple process. It came right out of your checking account also which I like. I also bought my U.S. Presidential Dollar (coin) Series albums. I do like looking for items that I would like to buy on-line. I also have payed a few bills on-line when they have not arrived in the mail and it was getting close to the due date.

Due to the passage of Proposition B -raising the minimum wage. Prices are already going up. A worker at Sullivan 6 Cinema said that prices are going up. Old price $6.00- Adults $4.00- Matinée (Any show before 6:00pm) New price $7.00 and $5.00 candy is going up too. Don't know about the popcorn and soda. I will post other price changes as I hear of them.

I was called into the office today at work. The news was good. Over the next year or so I could be getting a raise. It will be based on my job performance. Some of my duties are going to change. I will be using MP2 to track the new PM program.

We have a number of things we will be voting on in the November election here in Missouri. Here is a list of some of the things.

Constitutional Amendment 2
Plain Language Explanation:This amendment will allow Missouri patients and researchers access to any method of stem cell research, therapies and cures permitted under federal law. It also will set limits on any stem cell research, therapies and cures, including banning human cloning or attempted cloning. Violators will be subject to criminal and civil penalties.

I am voting NO on this. It says it bans cloning but that is a lie. The key word in this is "ANY" method of stem cell. They will be killing babies to do this research. Embryos are babies too.

Constitutional Amendment 3
Plain Language Explanation:
This amendment creates a fund which will be used only to pay for programs to prevent and reduce tobacco use and to provide health care to low-income Missourians and Medicaid recipients, and to cover administrative costs. These programs will be funded by imposing a tax of 4 cents per cigarette and 20 percent on all other tobacco products

I was thinking of voting yes on this. Last night I was told that the people that would be hurt by this would be the kids of the smokers. The parents were still going to smoke and the kids might do without a winter coat so the parents could still smoke.
So we will see how I will vote on this.

Plain Language Explanation:
This amendment will create a tax exemption for real and personal property that is used or held for nonprofit purposes or activities of veterans’ organizations.

I will be voting yes on this.

Constitutional Amendment 7
Plain Language Explanation:
This amendment will prevent statewide elected officials, members of the General Assembly and state judges from receiving a state pension if they are convicted of a felony while in office or if they are removed from office for misconduct or after impeachment. Also, this measure will require a two-thirds majority vote of the General Assembly in order to change or disapprove the salary recommendations of the Missouri Citizens’ Commission on Compensation for Elected Officials.

I will be voting yes on this.

Proposition B
Plain Language Explanation:
This amendment will increase the state minimum wage to $6.50 per hour or to the federal minimum wage rate if that rate is higher. Thereafter, the state minimum wage will be adjusted every year based on changes in the Consumer Price Index.

I will be voting NO on this. A few years ago I would have voted yes for this. I guess I am getting more conservative in my old age.

The Denny's restaurant here in Sullivan has closed it's doors. It closed for financial reasons too much debt. Over a million dollars I was told by someone at work. I thought someone would go out of business when Cracker Barrel opened.

I started the process to renew my passport over a month ago. I was getting nervous because it had not arrived yet. Well I got it in the mail today. I am good for another ten years. Also it will come in handy in two years when I have to renew my drivers licensees.

There is an interesting article in the USA Today today. It seems that bloggers are being sued. In January a blogger became the first blogger to lose a libel suit for what he wrote on his blog. There has even been some bloggers sued over comments left on there blog. They "the courts" have not decided if the blogger can be held libel for the comments yet. This is known as third party content. Below you will find some stats about blogs from the article.

Since March 2004, the "blogosphere" has doubled in size every five to seven months. There are now 53 million blogs. (Now 55.9 million.) This number is just the blogs that technorati track so there are many more than that.

150,000 The number of blogs created each day. or nearly two blogs per second.
1.6 million The number of daily postings, or more than 66,000 per hour.
39% of the blogs were in English.
31% of the blogs were Japanese.
12% of the blogs were Chinese.

The weekend is here. I am looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend. I think I will go to The 19Th Annual Marching Band Festival Parade in the morning at 9AM. I don't know what else I am going to do yet.

I have enjoyed the very cool weather today. I don't think I broke a sweat today at work. I did however go into a small mess. It was all cleaned up and everything looked great when I left this afternoon. I am fearing going back to work on Tuesday. I think it will not be as nice, neat and clean as it was when I left.

Looking forward to the NASCAR race on Sunday. It will be on NBC so I will be able to watch it. I will mess some of the first part of the race due to church and then lunch but will see most of it.

I was just reading in the local paper that there "would be NO parking for guests on the SHS campus" for the marching band field competition. This just blows my mind. No reason was given for this action. Stuff like that just makes my blood boil. If you are going to restrict my driving and parking to this event at least give me the reason why. And if your reason is something stupid or lame be prepared for me to tell you so. This could be one of the reasons... The buses but I say drop the kids off and park the big buses elsewhere while this event is going on and let the paying people use the parking lot..

This morning I get a phone call from a friend asking me for my help. He was coming to a family reunion. His sister had made a DVD of the history of the family and was going to play it at the community center for all of them. He was bringing a sound system with him and wanted to know if it could run through the projection unit that his sister was bringing. I asked about cables he had. He had speaker cables but did not know about the cable going from the projection unit into the board. I had one cable that came with my digital camera so I went to radio shack and bought a RCA cable. The cable from my camera was all I needed. I got it all set up and everything worked great.

Idiot Drivers In Sullivan

As I was coming home from work today I met a fire truck coming my way. Only a few of us got over to the right and stopped. The fire truck almost could not get through the intersection because only a few of us pulled over to the right and stopped.. Then across town the same thing happened with the ambulance that I meet on the road coming toward me. The person behind me nearly rear-ended me because I was pulling to the shoulder. Where did these idiots get their license and who taught them to drive!!! Does anyone know? Can anyone tell me? Or maybe it is not that they don't know how to drive. It is that they just don't care

Five Years Later

As I was running errands this morning I had to turn the radio off. I could not listen to any more of the reports from "that day" 9-11-01. It was sending me into a very depressed state. I can remember thinking after watching the second jet hit the World Trade Center what is happing. I still find it hard to put into words all the things I saw that day on TV. I kept taking a look at the TV that they had set up outside on the patio at work. I hated all the news about what happend five years ago today but we must never forget..

I remember this very well. Over the past month I have been afraid that our government was going to do the same thing. Not for straying into restricted airspace but because a passenger is out of control or is acting strange. On two different occasions fighter jets have been scrambled for these reasons. I ask you what are the fighter jets going to do with an out or control passenger?

Today at work I changed the oil in all the gearboxes on line 5. This made for a Code Green day. I got to work on that and not be interrupted. Once I got that done I worked on several projects for my boss. Over all a good day at work.

Our volleyball season ended on Tuesday night when we lost in the tournament. I enjoyed playing and enjoyed playing with the people I played with. I hope the feeling is mutual. I hope we do it again next year. I also hope we play softball this summer.
